According to the Webster’s Dictionary a ‘channel’ is a means of access or a route. Channeling is probably the most used term in the subject of psychics.

Channeling has existed in many forms since times immemorial. It is a popular tool that the psychics use as a medium to communicate with the world of spirits, ghosts and angels or the souls of the dead persons inhabiting the higher realms of existence. Channeling presupposes a belief that the life continues even after the physical dismemberment or death of the human body and the spirit of the departed person can be contacted by the human beings.

The guiding spirit, which is the source of information, guidance or assistance, may belong to the psychic channeling medium or to the seeker of the assistance.

One way of channeling is through automatic writing. The higher source or the guiding spirit holds the finger, as it were, of the channeling medium and writes with a pen on the paper or guides his fingers to click on the keyboard of the computer. In such cases the medium sits in meditation for some time, which relaxes his mind, clears it of the irrelevant clutter and makes way for the higher spirit to enter and work on his behalf.

Another form of channeling is the trance channeling. This form of communication is as spectacular as it is mysterious. In this technique the channel surrenders his body to the higher spirit, which enters the body of the channel and sends his conscious mind into a sleep like condition, which is called state of trance.

The spirit or the energy, with whom the communication is sought, takes possession of the body of the medium, also called ‘vehicle’ and answers the questions. The process of the spirit entering into the medium takes place in a matter of minutes or sometime seconds. The experienced psychics can actually see the aura of the spirit as it enters the body of the channel. In some cases, there is a quivering movement in the body, which signals that the external spirit has entered or taken hold of the body.

The medium not only speaks but also may walk and make gestures like in ordinary day today manner of interaction. If the interaction is with a higher spirit, it may also impart guidance, wisdom or knowledge about the future events.

The spiritual entity, the guiding spirit or the master can also directly communicate with the medium without taking possession of his body. The information that is passed out may be termed as channeled material. It may also come from the Cosmic Mind, God, goddess, angels or arch angels. The material that comes from these sources is of positive nature. In fact it does not matter which source the material comes from.

It may also be noted that the non-physical entities too have their personalities just as the physical entities have. Another thing to note is that if the spirit that is contacted is of a negative nature, the outcome of channeling will not be satisfactory.

Also channeling should not be, and in fact it cannot be, utilized for negative purposes. For example, you cannot seek guidance or assistance from a spirit for charting out a plan of murder or robbery. An experienced psychic also ensures that the channeled material is not sourced from a misguided spirit sources. Psychics usually do a lot of meditation to ward of such possibilities.

It should also be ensured that the kindly spirits are not invoked to provide unnecessary or trivial information for the sake of entertainment or just to try their powers. This would tantamount to showing them disrespect. The seekers too should not become too often dependent upon them and stretch their munificence too far.
